Never-ending story: Stupid beefs - Messy Marv goes at Too $hort

While the culture of battleing and writing diss tracks as well as bangin on wax has ever been a huge factor in hip-hop and certainly helped it to let it grow, you can't question that the rap history has experienced a lot of senseless and stupid verbal duels.

This time around, we can certainly say that someone picked the wrong one. The Boy Boy Young Mess (smh) better known as Messy Marv attacked bay area legend Too $hort via twitter out of nowhere. Claiming him fake, whack and whatsoever, Messy clearly tried to start something. Plain stupid, when the attacked person is not playing the ball back. In his player manner, Too $hort just said he doesn't know where this comes from and that he still respects Mess and invited him to meet up in Oakland or anywhere in the bay to squash issues.

As you may know, Mess is said to be very abusive with drugs, especially cocaine, within the last years and thsi surely was an influence on this topic. While Mess' music started to become worse with every mixtape he dropped since 2007, he managed it to keep his name in the streets, also by beefing with the likes of San Quinn or his former fellow group Click Clack Gang. Too $hort on the other hand went a away a bit from the club bouncer hip-hop and got back to his more funky side of music and dropped two decent EP's, proving that Short Dog is still one of the most entertaining rappers to ever touch the mic.

This beef seems to be nothing but a pathetic promotion move of Messy Marv and now he even leaked a diss track towards Too $hort, called "Class Of '84 (Fuck Too $hort)". As I said, Too $hort is not the one to be beefing with and I don't think we will ever see a response track to this, but he doesn't have to do it. Bay area veteran JT The Bigga Figga took Too Short's part and dropped "Take One", calling Messy Marv a hypocrit. The quality of JT's track is questionable but the move itself shows how much love Short Dog still got.

Check both track below:

So let's see who's next on Messy's list, he will surely continue with the immaturity. In this case, he is really a "Young Mess"...

Kendrick Lamar - O(verly) D(edicated)

Lil B gives away "I'm Gay" for free - Kendrick Lamar drops "Section 80"

Summer's hot and not only do the current Steam-sales benefit our wallets. The highly controversial rapper and The Pack member Lil B just dropped his even more controversial discussed solo debut "I'm Gay (I'm Happy)". To celebrate that, he gave that record away for free, via downloadlink on his twitter account.

He stated "CUZ I LOVE YOU IF YOU DONT HAVE 10 DOLLERS TO BUY MY NEW PROJECT HERE IT GOES FOR FREE- Lil B :+)"

On another note, Kendrick Lamar dropped his highly anticipated album "Section 80" on all digital retailers. If you're eager to hear honest music from one of the new voices of the west coast, who is not just bragging about cars or whatever, then you should check this out. As a teaser, watch the video for Kendrick's latest single "HiiiPoWeR", this should give you a proper impression of what Kendrick Lamar is about.

Soopafly readies "Best Kept Secret" for fall 2011

It's not like Soopafly was hidden under a bunch of stones within the last years, as he was affiliated with several projects such as Westurn Union aka Dubb Union, but you could argue that he was very silent on a solo tip. So the title of his upcoming album "Best Kept Secret" seems more than appropriate, considering that he never got the credit he deserved for his production and delivery.

Though hist last record "Bangin West Coast" was not really astonishing to me, I will not dare to miss a new Soopafly song when it drops. So today I am happy to announce that Soopafly is really back at it! One of the songs featured on his album will be the amazing Terrace Martin collaboration "G-Funk Martian", which is just wonderful music. Music that we need. No surprise that Terrace had his hands on it. But this is a real banger, Soopafly isn't even cussing, he just giving you the motivation to vibe. So check out "G-Funk Martian" ft. Terrace Martin.

The boys from dubcnn weren't sleeping neither, so they exclusively dropped the other leaked song, named like the album "Best Kept Secret". This song features Goldie Loc, Kokane and Maylay. Now if that ain't west coast...

DJ Quik talking about the sound of "Book Of David"

Within the next weeks we can be looking forward to a lot of great album releases. Upcoming tuesaday will be the release date for E-40's, Snoop Dogg's and Wiz Khalifa's new records. In early April funk legend Bootsy Collins will drop his new solo album and also April 19th is slowly but surely coming. That's when DJ Quik's supposed to put out his new LP "Book Of David".

In the video you can find down below, Quik is telling why he is one of the first musicians ever to get a sample clearence for "Grease" and why 80's music is his favourite. So you can expect an 80's influenced record with "Book Of David".

Another Si-Chill production

I been working hard on my music recently and I got a big thing cooking, of which I hope I'll be able to reveal more soon. I'm still searching for rappers interested to work with me and spit some fire over my productions so I'm back after a while with a beat of mine called "Clash Of The Titans". Check it below, this bass is knockin!

Feel free to drop any thoughts or contact me if you have concept for a song.

Clyde Carson is back with "What Would I Do" [Video]

Oakland's own Clyde Carson is back with a new video called "What Would I Do". The former member of The Team proves that he hasn't lost anything and that it may have been a mistake to go on a major label. Dropping such quality independently could've made him one of the biggest artists in the bay. But enough talking, check the video:

New Radio feature today! "The Samples"

I'm back today with another episode of my radio features of "The Breaks", live on Hertz 87.9 . In tonight's broadcast the music will be all about sampling and remaking some of the most awsome funk and soul classics, that's why I simply named it "The Samples".
The concept is easy: The were will be 14 tracks, 7 remakes and 7 originals where the remake is always followed by its source of inspiration. So you will get a nice mixture of sick rap music and that classic jazz and funk sound.

To listen to the show, just click on the banner in the sidebar where it says "live stream". My feature starts at 22.00 CET.

Tracklist:
01 Warren G – Runnin’ Wit No Breaks

Bootsy Collins readies "Tha Funk Capitol of the World"

Funk legend and former Parliament-Funkadelic member Bootsy Collins will be releasing a new album in April. The project is entitled "Tha Funk Capitol of the World" and is the bass player's first album since his 2006 christmas album "Christmas Is 4 Ever". In a recent interview on billboard.com, Bootsy stated “Since I’m still here, I really wanted to connect those dots…so young people can see that what they think is so new isn’t so new.” referring to the death of some his former colleagues like James Brown.

So we can expect a fresh new album bringing back that good old funk music, that crazy psychedelic sound but with some special surprise moments. At least the guest list lets us suspect this as people like Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Musiq Soulchild, George Clinton, Bobby Womack, Samuel L. Jackson and many more are featured on this record. Even the godfather of guitar, Jimi Hendrix, will have a little appearence. Check the tracklist below. If that's not enough to get you hyped, I don't know what else could get you funked up!

Tha Funk Capitol of the World Tracklist:
01. Intro
02. Hip Hop @ Funk U (feat. Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, & Chuck D)
03. Mirrors Tell Lies (feat Jimi Hendrix)
